Deanna Shaffer, MS, RDN, LD - President

 Deanna is an informatics dietitian at Eisenhower Army Medical Center. She is originally from West Palm Beach, Florida and went on to attend the University of Florida where she earned a Bachelor of Science in dietetics. She then completed her Master of Science and dietetic internship through the University of Georgia. When not at work, Deanna can be found spending time with her husband and their two dogs or traveling, cooking, playing volleyball, or playing board games. 

Lo Bannerman, MS, RDN - President Elect

Lo is an entrepreneurial dietitian specializing with moms and babies. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Science and Psychology and her Master of Science in Education from The University of Arizona. After graduating, she spent three years volunteering and traveling with her husband before settling in Waynesboro, Georgia and completing her dietetic internship through Augusta University. In her free time, Lo can be found traveling, hiking, or kayaking with her husband and their Labrador. 

 

Lucie Maguire Kramer, MS, RDN, CLC - Secretary

Lucie is from Charleston, SC and in Augusta for her husband’s medical residency. She received her Bachelor and Master of Science from Clemson University and conducted her dietetic internship with the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). Lucie works with the MUSC Boeing Center for Children’s Wellness coordinating programs to prevent childhood obesity from infancy to high school graduation and to promote breastfeeding and wellbeing in the child care setting. Outside of work, Lucie is busy chasing her two young boys all over Augusta.

 

Nicole Moore, MS, RDN, LD - Secretary Elect

Nicole Moore is an assistant professor at Augusta University teaching clinical nutrition for the Master of Science in Allied Health with a Concentration in Nutrition with Dietetic Internship program. She previously worked as a clinical dietitian at Augusta University Medical Center. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Georgia double majoring in dietetics and microbiology. After graduation attended the Medical University of South Carolina Dietetic Internship to become a Registered Dietitian. Nicole returned to school to complete her Master’s degree in nutritional sciences at the University of Kentucky and is currently a doctoral student at Augusta University in the Applied Health Sciences program. Her research interest is in nutritional genomics and kidney disease.  In her free time, Nicole enjoys spending time with her friends and family, watching Georgia football, and playing with her Chihuahuas, Moe and Faith.

Emelina Perez, MS - Newsletter/Website Editor

Emelina is from the small town of Fort Valley, GA. Passionate about baking and cake decorating, she began her college years wanting to become a pastry chef but later fell in love with the field of dietetics. She now holds a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food Science from Georgia Southern University and is currently completing her second year of the MS/DI program at Augusta University. Having worked as a dietary aide in a long-term care facility and as the University Wellness Program Assistant at Georgia Southern, Emelina has a strong interest in geriatric nutrition and wellness. Besides baking and cake decorating, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to podcasts, dancing, and exercising at the gym.

Kim Beavers, MS, RDN, LD, CDE - Public Relations Coordinator

Kim Beavers is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Diabetes Educator for University Health Care System. She is the producer and co-host of the culinary nutrition segment Eating Well with Kim, which airs at noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday on WRDW. One of Kim’s passions is to show viewers that eating healthfully is also delicious. She believes that for eating habits to change food must taste good (nutrition follows flavor). Kim received her Bachelor and Masters of Science in Nutrition from James Madison University located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. She enjoys outdoor activities with her husband Buford, two children and two dogs.

  

Shainece Miller, MS - Public Relations Coordinator

 Shainece is a second-year graduate student at Augusta University, completing her dietetic internship. She received her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from the University of Georgia, dedicating most of her time to the athletic population as a volunteer with the university’s sports dietitians. Aside from working in retail, Shainece can be found at the gym, spending quality time with friends and family, meal prepping, and volunteering her time both within the community and at the professional level.

Sarah Tankersley, RDN, LD - Nominating Committee Chair  

Sarah is a hometown girl, born and raised in Augusta, Georgia. She attended the University of Georgia where she received her bachelor’s degree in nutrition and dietetics and then completed the Augusta Area Dietetic Internship. Sarah became a dietitian to help others achieve lifelong health through nutrition. She specifically works with the pediatric population in the areas of cystic fibrosis, weight management, gastrointestinal function, allergies, and renal disorders. She loves the challenge that being a dietitian brings every day and truly enjoys the successes of her patients. In her free time, Sarah enjoys spending time with her family and dogs, exercising at the gym, kayaking, and traveling.

 

Sandy Loushine, SpE, MS, RDN - Nominating Committee Member

The good thing about moving every three years with a military spouse is the wide variety of experience it affords. Sandy has held positions as President of a nursery and preschool in Germany, chief clinical dietitian, and as a private practice dietitian. During the military years, she earned a master’s at Kansas State University and raised two daughters. Once settled in Augusta, Sandy was coordinator for the School Nutrition Program in Richmond County for 20 years. She is now happily retired and keeping busy with volunteer work, the gym, and watching her five grandchildren grow.

 

Sheri Loflin, MS, RDN, LD, CDE - Nominating Committee Member

Sheri has been working as the Clinical Nutrition Manager for the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center for the past ten years.  Having the influence of many veterans in her upbringing, she has enjoyed serving our nation’s heroes in this capacity. Prior to joining the VA Medical System, Sheri worked as a clinical dietitian and clinical nutrition manager in hospital and renal outpatient settings. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in dietetics from the University of Georgia and her Master of Science in Management from Southern Wesleyan University.  She enjoys spending time with her family and friends and is married to Steve and has a daughter named Sydney. 

 

Rachel Johanek, MS, RDN, CSO, LD - Fundraising Committee Chair

Rachel was born in Wisconsin but mostly grew up in Champaign, Illinois. She earned her Bachelor of Science in nutrition at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She then went on to complete her Master of Science in nutrition and dietetic internship at Illinois State University before moving to Augusta, Georgia. She is currently working at the Georgia Cancer Center at Augusta University where she dedicates her time to helping patients with cancer by optimizing their nutrition status. In her free time, Rachel enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.

Jo Kriikku, MS, RDN, LD- Fundraising Committee Member

 Jo received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Nutrition from Winthrop University. After working in different specialties of nutrition in other cities, she moved to Augusta in 1996. She has been employed with NHC Healthcare for 22 years. In addition to loving the elderly, she also enjoys volunteering with Boy Scouts and the church youth group. She is a beach girl from childhood (Pawleys Island) and likes to spend free time with her feet in the sand. She has loved the beach (Pawleys Island) since she was a child and to this day still likes to spend time on the beach with her feet in the sand.

Kristen Middleton, RDN, LD, CSP - Secretary

Kristen is a consultant dietitian for St. Joseph Hospice. After getting her Bachelor of Science in nutrition from Colorado State University, she moved to Atlanta to attend the Southern Regional Medical Center Dietetic Internship Program. Her first job was working at Athens Regional Medical Center. From there, she traveled back home to Augusta to work as the outpatient pediatric dietitian at the Medical College of Georgia. In her free time, Kristen enjoys attempting to play the game of golf, reading the Food & Nutrition magazine, and keeping up with her busy family.

Cathryne Buice, MS, RDN, LD, CDE - Treasurer

Cathryne received her Bachelor of Science in dietetics from Winthrop University and her Master of Science in nutrition from the University of Alabama. She has been a dietitian for 30 years and a Certified Diabetes Educator for 24 years. Currently, she is the Clinical Nutrition Manager at University Hospital. She has held previous positions on the ADDA Executive Board including President and Spring Workshop Coordinator. In her spare time, Cathryne enjoys cooking (especially baking desserts), reading, and traveling.

Nicole LeBlond, RD - Public Relations Coordinator

Nicole is a pediatric dietitian at the Children's Hospital of Georgia. She traded her Vermont roots and snow for some Georgia sunshine and peaches. She earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of Vermont, completed her dietetic internship with the Sage Colleges in Albany, New York, and is currently in her last semester completing her Masters of Science in Applied Nutrition with the Sage Colleges. In her free time, you can catch Nicole outside hiking, at the gym, cooking, and skiing when she gets the chance to visit her home state.

 

Pam Brisky, MS, RDN, LD, CDE, CNSC - Legislative Chair

Pam received a Bachelor of Science in dietetics from the University of Kentucky and completed her dietetic internship at the James A. Haley VAMC in Tampa, Florida. Her first job was at the Atlanta VAMC. While in Atlanta, she received a Master of Science in Nutrition Management from Georgia State University. From there, Pam joined Aramark Corporation as a Food Service Director and then worked in the corporate office as a Clinical Operations Specialist in Chicago, Illinois. After several winters, she decided to move back to the south and is currently the Clinical Nutrition Manager at Augusta University Medical Center. She is proud to be on a board with progressive thinkers.

Sally Fisher, RDN, LD - Fundraising Committee

Sally is a graduate from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and completed her internship at Duke University Medical Center.  She received a Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University in 1988.  She has been active in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for 55 years with experience in clinical nutrition, food service, education, and more before retiring in 2000. She continues to serve as a dietary consultant at a local senior retirement center and attends continuing education sessions to keep her credentials current. Since moving to Augusta in 1985, Sally has served on the Augusta District Dietetic Association Board of Directors as President, Awards Chair, Legislative Chair, and on the Fundraising Committee for the last eight years.
